All ERCES must be monitored by the fire alarm system in accordance with the code/standard determined by the AHJ/Fire Code Official. It is important to note the requirements of the National Fire Alarm Code NFPA 72 as well.

Be sure to get your copy of the full referenced IFC Code or NFPA Code or Standard directly from ICC or NFPA to get the latest revisions and access to explanatory material and annex info.

The idiom one-size-fits-all can be used to describe situations, items, policies, etc. that are intended to apply to a broad range of individuals. The term, as defined by Merriam-Webster, means:  “…applying to all cases or individuals without modification.” Of course, one-size-fits-all is not an exact fit for some individuals, nor, in the case of a policy, is it designed for every situation. Through my travels and experiences, I often see folks trying to apply the one-size-fits-all concept to the world of ERCES. Quite frankly: That doesn’t work.

SBC and Industry Events - What's in Store for 2024?

2023 is waning, and the Safer Buildings Coalition is about to start planning the 2024 seminar calendar, which will again take us to cities across country (and Canada) throughout the year. We will communicate the seminar dates when they become available.

As always, SBC will be in place for several industry events next years. Many more details will follow, but we can tell you that two of the highest-profile on our Dance Card will be back next year: IWCE & SBC's Wireless Tech & Policy Summit!
