One of the factors Texas City Independent School District considered when enhancing its security and safety plan was the data about school shootings across the country. In order to help provide a more secure environment for its students, the Texas Gulf Coast school district adopted FirstNet. Hear what some of the school officials have to say about FirstNet’s role in their students’ safety.

"These may include outdated or insufficient communications equipment (e.g., radios or phones that do not receive signals inside school buildings), lack of training on existing communications equipment or protocols, and a lack of interoperability between the communications equipment possessed by first responder organizations and the school." p. 144
