With the 2019 Safer Buildings Board of Directors Election in the books, our new board is in place. New members Eric Toenjes, Graybar and Dennis Burns, ADRF join the board as, respectively, the Coalition's next Vice President and Secretary. Kevin Persing, Cobham Wireless, who was serving as Board Secretary, will take on the role of At-Large board member during the next cycle.

Broward County Board of Rules & Appeals Discusses Proposed Guidelines at BDA Committee Meeting

The Safer Buildings Coalition, along with several of our member organizations, attended the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals BDA Committee meeting yesterday, September 17th in Plantation, FL. Representatives of the local Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) were also in attendance. Chairman Rice took the group through version 1 of their proposed Radio Communications Enhancement System (RCES) Guidelines.

CCFS Announces a Special 3-Hour Safer Buildings Coalition Program at the 2019 Campus Fire Forum
Posted on September 19, 2019 Atlanta is the venue for this year’s Forum
The 2019 Edition of the Center For Campus Fire Safety's Campus Fire Forum will take place in Atlanta, GA Nov. 11-15.
The exciting program includes a 3 Hour Morning Training Class with the Safer Buildings Coalition (SBC). The program will be similar to the special event CCFS, University of New Mexico and the Safer Buildings Coalition co-sponsored in August.

Safer Buildings Coalition Elects New Board

The 2019 Election for the Safer Buildings Coalition Board of Directors has concluded, and we are pleased to announce that Graybar’s Eric Toenjes was elected as the new SBC Vice President, while Dennis Burns, of ADRF, will be the Coalition’s next Secretary. Kevin Persing, Cobham Wireless, who has been serving as Board Secretary, will take on the role of At-Large board member next. Current SBC Vice President, Patrick Lau, Comba, becomes President.

CCFS’ Chief Justin Daniels Headlines Special SBC Event in New Mexico

The University of New Mexico, on Monday, August 12th, hosted a very special installment in the Safer Buildings Coalition In-Building Public Safety Seminar series.
A special Higher-Ed focused version of our regular seminars, this event was a collaboration between the Safer Buildings Coalition, the Center for Campus Fire Safety (CCFS) and the University of New Mexico. The New Mexico seminar served as a pilot for a planned series of similar higher-ed focused events around the country that would include the Coalition and the Center for Campus Fire Safety.

The popular tagline “What’s in Your Wallet?” is from an advertising campaign for Capital One and their credit card line. It’s a line that many of us recognize because we’ve seen the ubiquitous commercials at some point.
So, what does Capital One’s ad campaign have to do with the Safer Buildings Coalition? No, we are not coming out with an SBC credit card, but there is work taking place that will have you – our member companies and employees -- thinking about “What’s in your wallet?” in terms of complying with the requirements of the codes and standards related to public safety in-building emergency communications enhancement systems.
