Dear SBC Members & Followers -

As we enter into the next year for the Safer Buildings Coalition, I am eager to continue the work of previous years. As we pursue our mission of “Eliminating wireless dead zones inside buildings, so everyone can feel safe inside" there are specific areas of focus that I hope to concentrate on growing.

  • Education for the industry: The success of our Complete ERCES Handbook launch has exceeded our expectations. Now we need to work with the industry to leverage the information in training courses and events. We are developing partnerships with training organizations to realize this.
  • Cohesive best practices across jurisdictions: One of the strengths of the Public Safety Communications sector is the significant number of knowledgeable people at the local level. We want to support the effort to achieve as much commonality in best practices when it comes to solving in-building coverage issues.
  • Proper BDA Planning, Deployment and Management: Interference in radio networks is extremely dangerous to first responders relying on communications. The proliferation of BDA as a solution to in-building coverage problems. WE want to support the industry in ensuring BDA designs are done well and that testing uplink and downlink performance is done right to ensure minimal impact on the network. Additionally, BDAs need to be fully tracked and managed to ensure the best planning and quick resolution of problems.

These are some of the main objectives for the Safer Buildings Coalition for 2024 and beyond. I am looking forward to fruitful work as we pursue SBC’s mission.

Thank you for your continued support.

I wish everyone one you Happy Holidays and a Blessed New Year!
