SBC Hosts Annual Member’s Meeting and Dinner at IWCE Las Vegas
Record attendance as SBC continues to grow and evolve

The Safer Buildings Coalition hosted its annual Member’s Meeting and Dinner at IWCE on September 27th in Las Vegas. The packed house got together as a Coalition for the first time in 18 months, and enthusiasm was high.
The evening featured presentations by SBC’s executive team and SBC Work Group Chairs. New SBC Board President Dennis Burns thanks outgoing Board members Patrick Lau and Kevin Persing, while welcoming new Board Members Richard Roberts, David Adams, and Scott Umemoto.

Highlights of the event included:
- A presentation by Ashlie Bryant, Co-Founder & CEO of 3Strands Global Foundation, on the topic of Human Trafficking, and the ways that the wireless industry can help to combat this serious problem. Ashlie was introduced by Pulse / Apex CEO Kenny Blakeslee, who together with Ashlie founded TATE.
- A presentation by Chip Hollis of NICET, providing members an update on the NICET In-Building Public Safety Communications certification program, built in collaboration with the Safer Buildings Coalition.
- We provided a video update on our current project to evaluate Vehicle Mounted Repeaters (more on this next month)
- We announced the Finalists for the SBC Annual Member’s Awards.
- Keynote Address by Michelle Geddes, Chief Information Officer City and County of San Francisco Department of Emergency Management. Her Keynote Topic: Be Excellent!
- A wonderful dinner and reception where we could all mingle, catch up and network.
