SBC President

Current SBC President Jeff Hipchen will step into the role of Immediate Past President. Patrick Lau, our current Vice President, will become President of the Board.

Which positions are up for election?

Vice President – Term: 1 year. Note that this is a three-year commitment, which includes the positions of: Vice President (1 year), President (1 year) & Immediate Past Present (1 year).

Secretary – Term: 2 years.

At-Large Director – Term: 2 years

How to vote

The election will be conducted by electronic ballot between July 31st and August 15th.

How to run

Interested in throwing your hat in the ring for one of the three open positions? 

Members interested in running for the Board are asked to provide:

  • The position for which you are running
  • Current resume
  • Statement from current employer indicating permission to run
  • A statement or letter to SBC members in which you make your case for your candidacy [this is the only electioneering communication permitted by current policy].

Requirements – Who can run?

A member may submit their name for a maximum of one (1) position in each election cycle.

The Vice President shall be an employee of an SBC paid-tier member organization in good standing of the SBC throughout their term of office.

The Secretary and At-Large director shall be employees of an SBC paid-tier member organization in good standing of the SBC throughout their term of office.

The importance to the Safer Buildings Coalition is that this provides objective, third-party oversight to ensure proper governance and afford strategic guidance to the future of the SBC mission.
