Codes and Standards Work Group August 2024

The SBC Codes & Standards Work Group meet on August 2nd.

On the agenda:
NFPA 101, 5000 Progress and Updates: Richard Roberts, Honeywell, summarized the two embedded first revisions (FR) relating to new and existing education occupancies. The language in the below documents need a lot of work but they allow a public comment to be submitted to clean up the language. The deadline for submitting PC’s is April 24, 2025.

NFPA 1225 TIA Update: Chief Alan Perdue provided an update on submission of the below TIA’s. A Sub-WF was formed to review and provide feedback to the below TIA’s Members of the SUB-WG are Chief Perdue, Dave Adams, Dennis Burns, Richard Roberts Gabe Guevara, Chris Herrington. Richard will schedule a meeting of the Sub-WG.

2027 Edition of NFPA 1225: A Sub-WG will be formed to consider, develop, and submit SBC public input(s). Richard will request 4 or 5 volunteers. The deadline for submitting PI’s is 9

SBC Petition to FCC Regarding Signal Booster Rules: John Foley discussed the need for the petition including the failure of system installers and designers to follow FCC rules, the lack of RF design and installation competency, and incorrect assumptions made in the 2013 docket on signal boosters.
