The International Code Council is the leading global source of model codes and standards and building safety solutions that include product evaluation, accreditation, technology, training, and certification. The Code Council's codes, standards, and solutions are used to ensure safe, affordable, and sustainable communities and buildings worldwide.

Safer Buildings Coalition has received approval for our 5-hour training session on ERCES. The ICC awards 5 Contact hours or 0.5 CEUs for our 5-hour training course. During the course, request a Certificate of Attendance from SBC, then you submit it to the ICC using the course code that is on the ICC website. Each of our seminars has a specific course code, based on the location and date.  Visit the ICC website to learn more about how to enter and submit CEUs.

SBC courses are routinely added the ICC Preferred Provider Program schedule here.

APCO

Safer Buildings Coalition 5-hour training seminar qualifies for 5 APCO CDE. APCO members should request a Certificate of Attendance from SBC during the seminar, then upload it to their personal MyAPCO  account.

Students should go to the APCO Training page, log into their personal APCO Account:

  • The hours can be uploaded to MyAPCO in Training Central > My Classes Taken > Add Continuing Education
  • When done correctly, the 5 hours will count towards their continuing education hours (ConEd Report).

About APCO CDEs

CDEs can be any trainings or activities completed within or outside of APCO that relates to public safety (CAD Trainings, PSC Magazines, Illuminations, Webinars, and activities outside of normal job duties, including attended trainings). The hours are calculated hour for hour so, for example, if you attended a training for 4 hours, it would count as exactly 4 hours towards your CDE hour requirements. For recertification, the CDE's MUST be started and completed within the student’s Year 1 and Year 2 certification time periods.

NICET

Earn 5 CPD points for IB-PSC

In-Building Public Safety Communications (IB-PSC)

The NICET IB-PSC certification program is for engineering technicians engaged in the design and layout, and installation and maintenance, of in-building public safety communication systems.  Once earned, certification must be maintained through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and recertified every three years.

Safer Buildings Coalition hosted a webinar on “Getting NICET Certified for ERCES”, watch the recording here.

Participants attending Safer Buildings Coalition’s training seminars may claim 1 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) point per of hour of instruction toward NICET recertification in the Additional Education category, so for our 5-hour training course, that is 5 CPDs.

Keep NICET certification current by demonstrating Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Renewals are done electronically in the NICET portal. Please log into your NICET account to get started.
