Monitoring Requirements for In-building, Emergency Responder Radio Communications Systems (ERRCS) Speakers:
Abstract: This seminar explores and discusses the monitoring of Emergency Responder Radio Communications System (ERRCS), and the benefits of assuring that all components of the system (both Active and Passive) are continuously monitored for correct operation. Today’s construction materials and methods inhibit or even block radio signals used by First Responders once they enter a building. A Public Safety - Emergency Responder Radio Communications System (ERRCS) within a building ensures that public safety agencies can always communicate using their wireless devices. These systems are not typically utilized unless there is an incident and fire, police, and emergency medical services personnel respond and enter the building. But it is critical to be certain that these systems will function at the crucial moment they are needed. This is why language was inserted into fire code requiring the monitoring, regular maintenance, and recertification testing of these systems. But today’s code only requires the monitoring of the active (powered) components of the system. This can make problems with the important passive (non-powered) components invisible to the building owner and those responsible for managing the system. This seminar brings experts to present and discuss:
