Chief Perdue in DC promoting public safety and the public’s safety with NACO Telecommunications and Technology Steering Committee Members

Federal officials and policy experts talked about the latest telecommunications and technology federal policy issues

Chief Alan Perdue attended the 2019 National Association of Counties' (NACO) Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, March 2nd. During the Telecommunications and Technology Steering Committee meeting, federal officials and policy experts presented the latest telecommunications and technology federal policy issues.

Alan engaged in a great discussion about inaccurate FCC coverage maps and how reliable cellular coverage and broadband, including in-building, is needed to ensure that 911 calls and other critical communication can happen at all times and for anyone needing emergency related communications. This is crucial to the public's safety.

Alan also had one-on-one conversations with Brendan Dailey and April Jones, Legislative Assistants to U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), respectively. They discussed a number of issues of the highest importance to the public and SBC's members, including in-building cellular connectivity, public safety LMR/FirstNet and the tax incentive act the Coalition is promoting.
