Call for Nominations: 2026 SBC Board of Directors Election

The 2026 election for the Safer Buildings Coalition Board of Directors is around the corner. We strongly encourage our members to vote in this election — and to consider putting your name on the 2026 ballot to help the Coalition continue to make a difference.

This year, three Board positions are open:

1. Vice President – Term: 1 year
2. Treasurer – Term: 3 years
3. At-Large Director [Elect Even Years] – Term: 2 years

The Board of Directors provides objective, third-party oversight to ensure proper governance and afford strategic guidance to the future of the SBC mission.

This is your opportunity to take a leading role as the Coalition engages decision makers, code officials, industry, et al, and provide crucial thought leadership on ERCES, School Safety, and Workforce Development — and spread awareness about our “9-1-1 Inside” Call to Action.

Would you — or someone in your organization — like to throw your hat in the ring for this opportunity to lead and make a real difference as the Coalition works to make buildings safer?

How to Submit a Nomination:

• Nominations are open to representatives of Paid Tier Member Organizations in good standing.
• You may nominate yourself or a qualified colleague.
• Submit your nomination using the 2026 Nomination Form.
• Please be prepared to provide the candidate's name, title, company, and a short candidate statement/bio for the candidate page.

Nominations are accepted UNTIL Friday, July 24, 2026 at 5:00 PM EDT.

The election will be conducted by electronic ballot between July 27 and August 20, 2026.

What Happens Next:

• Electronic ballot opens: Monday, July 27, 2026
• Electronic ballot closes: Thursday, August 20, 2026, 11:30 PM PDT
• Results validated by the Elections Committee: by Tuesday, August 25, 2026
• Results announced: on or before Friday, August 28, 2026
• New Board seated: Wednesday, September 30, 2026 (first Board meeting)

Election Procedure:

• ONE Representative from each Paid Tier Organization may submit a ballot when voting opens. An email notice will be sent to the Primary Point of Contact at each Member Company.
• To update your organization's Primary Point of Contact(s), please contact us HERE, Subject: UPDATE PRIMARY POINT OF CONTACT
• Per the SBC Published Member Tiers and Benefits, votes are weighted by Member Type:
• Small and Medium Business Member Organizations get one vote per race, with each vote having a weight of one vote.
• Corporate and Wireless Carrier Member Organizations get one vote per race, with each vote having a weight of two votes.
• Each Organization votes for ONE Candidate in each race.
• Any tie vote will result in a run-off election.
